Google Maps tells you a restaurant exists. It doesn't tell you what you can eat there.

Most restaurants still don't put their menu online. So you hope someone uploaded a photo : and then you hope it's still current. And even then, you can't tell whether the soup has cream in it. So you stand at the table, ask three questions, and order the side salad again.

GetaBite reads the menu itself. Dish by dish, in whatever language it's written in.

How it works

  1. Photograph the menu

    All pages, including the legend if there is one. Your photo is analysed and then discarded : we never keep it.

  2. We read it

    Every dish is checked against what the menu actually says. Names stay in the original language.

  3. You see what's yours

    Grouped by vegan and vegetarian, with how sure we are and what to ask when you order.

Why I built this

You hope someone photographed the menu for Google Maps, and then you hope it's still current.

For years I've wondered how it can be that in 2026 most restaurants still don't have their menu online.

At some point I thought: why not build it myself. You photograph the menu, the app writes it out, and you see straight away what's there : and what to ask about.

I'm building it alone, in public. Let's bring it to life together.
