Common US / international name: vitamin D3 / cholecalciferol

Origin: Fat-soluble vitamin used for fortification.
What it depends on: Often made from lanolin (sheep wool grease). Lichen or other non-lanolin D3 exists but is less common. Vitamin D2 is plant/fungal.
Where it typically appears: Fortified milk, plant milks, cereals, margarine, supplements.
