Common vegan and vegetarian marks you may see when shopping in North America.

Certification is mostly private. US and Canadian law do not define a single mandatory vegan package mark.

Issued by Vegan Action (Vegan.org)

What it assures: Product is certified under Vegan Action rules for animal ingredients as defined in their programme.

What it does not assure: Not a USDA or FDA vegan seal. Certification is private and voluntary.

Traces / shared lines: Trace exclusion is not a simple on-pack promise. Programme documents describe how production is reviewed. Shared-equipment risk is not the same as a mandatory allergen statement.

Private certification · Vegan

Issued by BeVeg Certification

What it assures: Product holds a BeVeg vegan certificate under the scheme's published requirements.

What it does not assure: It is not a government mark. International use still depends on the licence for that product.

Traces / shared lines: Trace exclusion is not a simple on-pack promise. Check BeVeg materials for how they treat processing and cross-contact. Do not equate the mark with zero-trace labelling law.
